I notice that i'm now getting a picture on ITV and Channel 4. Albeit breaking up constantly.
However, this is an improvement on the previous constant black screen 'No signal' sign.

KMJ, Derby: As much as i'm not happy with the Freeview quality, I realise that technically, I shouldn't even be receiving Freeview due to it not being in my area as yet.

I'm just left bemused that back in the summer, the signal was really good. Nearly every channel was watchable and, at worst, i'd suffer minor break-ups in the picture.

So it seems the tests don't last that long?

As my analogue channels are on, didn't check at 20 past midnight though.

What can such short testing achieve though?

Oh, also, I don't entirely get why it states 20th April as switchover day?

Ran alright at lunch time, has done this once before back last year. Then, like that moment last year, turned dire again.

It's just a joke if i'm honest. The extortionate price of a TV license yields this result.

Briantist, it isn't entirely the weather. As it's constantly poor, whatever the weather is like.

In reply to: Ryan: Not sure what I was supposed to make of "alright at lunch time ... then, like that moment last year, turned dire".

Sorry, didn't make myself clear. I meant that it went back to the picture breaking up and becoming unwatchable. Like it was towards the end of last year.

It appears that it will run alright in a morning, and at lunch time. Yet turn poor soon after lunch, and continue for the remainder of day.

Recently heard Nottingham transmitter will be switching before Sutton Coldfield.
When I put my aerial up I couldn't receive a good enough picture via the Nottingham transmitter. Just wondering, Briantist, with the transmitter being made more powerful, would I be likely to pick up a good signal from the transmitter?

I'm in the Alfreton (Derbyshire) area.

Thanks.

Is there any chance of non-BBC channels working well, consistently, before switch over date?
