DAve is rubbish reception here in sy8 (shropshire) it has crashed my sky box twice now. My dad who lives a 1000yds down road has bad reception which always seems to start around 7pm when good programs start so have to turn over to something else because pixel picture and squeaking audio very bad . The frequency which dave broadcasts on needs to be stronger and more stable. I came home the other night after leaving my house with sky on dave channel to find it had locked up my entire box and had to turn it off to do a reset.

edd: Your sky box is on...Sky. Your dad has freeview, which is an entirely different system, but its a good start to check signal strength.

Further to that said by MikeB, it would appear that your Sky box has a fault that needs attention. It is nothing to do with Freeview at all.

Why isn't Dave on freesat?
Is this going to be available in the future?

Egregory:

Which transmission method is used is entirely up to the broadcaster to decide. They may, or may not, choose to remain solely on Freeview. Or they may, or may not, decide that they can afford to broadcast on Freesat as well. Each method of broadcasting their programming bears a cost to them and each is charged separately. So the management who operate the Dave channel have to weigh up whether they want to broadcast from one or two sources. Likewise, making their programmes available via the internet also carries a cost burden.

It is entirely their choice. So why not ask them directly?

Egregory: I suspect it has more to do with UKTV receiving payments from Sky in order for Dave to be part of their subscription service on satellite. Some of UKTV's other channels have become FTA (free to air) and joined Freesat after previously being subscription channels, so it isn't impossible that Dave will do so at some point in the future.

I seem to get 200 channels but no Dave! On the Radio Times guide it is listed as freesat 157 but my freest goes 152,153,154,155,156, 158, 159. So where is it hiding?

Victoria Fontaine-Wolf: Dave is joining Freesat on 2nd August. Either you're looking at next week's Radio Times or they've printed the channel number for Freesat prematurely.

StevensOnln1: I am no longer subscribed to Sky, I still use the box for the free channels. Last night, Dave was on air! When did this happen? When I stopped paying for subscription channels - Dave was no longer available.
