published on UK Free TV

The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

ben: No work of an engineering nature is presently taking place at the Wenvoe transmitter site, however the tropospheric ducting maps indicate that high pressure zones are presently sweeping across many areas in the Western side of the UK and this might well be the cause of your problem, as the posting following your own from Kelly - Lancaster reports problems of a similar nature.

Nothing can really be done to help alleviate that type of problem except to wait until the situation improves, although in your particular case retuning at frequent intervals will be required to know if it has, as your action of retuning will have deleted everything stored in the tuner.

Kelly: Please refer to my reply to ben in the posting following your own, as problems you are also experiencing is most likely to be atmospheric pressure related.

Kelly and Ben:

Yes, patience is a virtue with these natural phenomenon. They occur every year and depend entirely on the atmospheric conditions and have been known about for more than fifty years. But, as they are natural events there is nothing anyone can do about it, so we have to be patient until the weather patterns change.

Cynthia:

What box are you meaning? Many Sky or Freeview set top boxes need to be disconnected from the mains for at least 5 minutes before plugging in again and allowing it to reset. Try that next by removing the mains plug from the wall socket for a minimum of 5 minutes, then plug it in again and wait aniother 5 minutes whilst it resets. Then try turning it on with the remote control and see what you get.

Heken Francis:

Contact the management of your retirement home as they are responsible for the maintenance of the aerial system. They will be able to check whether the problem is in their aerialsystem or is due some external cause.
