I am working on integrating this information into UK Free TV. Note there are a number of sites with restricted radiation patterns. This information may take a couple of days to generate coverage maps for.

I have used the "Nominal ERPs" (the power levels most likely to be employed in practice by the licensee).

Taken from Ofcom - Award of the 600 MHz spectrum band - it's bad news for The Wrekin and Sudbury, but good news for:

Can anybody explain why Classic F M has such poor quality after dark the program keeps dropping out completely. This has only started in the last 7 days The signal strength is showing approx.85% But quality reading is constantly changing . I am tuned to the Hasting transmitter.

Tony Padley : There are no plans: covering only 170,000 homes Heathfield is too small for Com 7 and 8.

HI. We are tuned to Huntshaw Cross in Mid Devon and last night, 24/03/1, lost all the BBC channels, but not ITV, Ch4 etc. This has happened before and I wonder why. The signal was chirping and breaking up for a while and then they all disappeared.

Hi, I live in Telford, Shropshire & was wondering if I should invest in a new aerial & cabling to get better reception, but also which transmitter is best to get the most HD channels, especially BBC4 & BBC News.
Much appreciated,
Alan

Alan M. Smith:

To answer your questions, we need a full post code so the best transmitter can be determined. It will also allow us contributors to see if there are any potential reception problems caused by terrain or buildings, etc.

Hi Alan J Smith,to answer your question,if you can receive the Sutton Coldfield transmitter from your location, then that will give you all the HD channels including BBC 4/BBC news and Big centre TV from Birmingham on channel 8.
Failing that your next choice of transmitter is Winter Hill which works quite well in some parts of Telford.Unfortunately this will give you the North West/Granada region...but will give you allthe HD channels etc.
The Wrekin only transmits BBC B,

Aerialman:

Some parts of Telford cannot receive acceptable signals from either Sutton Coldfield, Winter Hill or the Wrekin - hence the request for a post code so we can identify the reception conditions at the enquirer's actual location. Onl;y with that information is it possible to give meaningful advice rather than if's and but's and maybe's that are not particularly helpful to non-technical viewers. #
