Tracy: If you are using a standard Sky box (or white Sky+ type) then press "services - 4 - 6" and see if anything is being indicated in the strength / quality bars, if anything is being indicated then both readings have to be around a minimum of 50% or so to resolve a picture, should the indications be under the aforementioned levels or the quality is seen to be lagging the strength then that can indicate that your dish has moved slightly out of alignment, if though nothing is indicated then although it could still be the dish it could on the other hand be caused by the box having developed a fault, and especially so if its of the older variety as these types are prone to developing power supply problems.

Another possible reason for the problem could be due to water having gained access to the "F" connector on the end of the coax that screws into the dishes LNB, this having to be unscrewed for the purpose of checking it out.

That said, if you are on friendly terms with a neighbour or whoever who also uses a Sky set up, then you could shorten the process of fault finding if you managed to try your box out on their dish connection.

Hi, I suddenly cannot get ITV3, Drama, 5*, 5 USA. I never had this before but recently did a re-install with the Recorder as I'd had some intermittent sound issues so thought a re tune would help. I see from elsewhere on your site these are all listed under "SDN". Is this a co incidence? how can I ensure they are picked up by a scan- have tried 3 times now with "installation". Help!

Donna: Which transmitter are you tuned into? Huntshaw Cross is a full transmitter, and your so close (just 4km), the signal must be really strong. I'm surprised your TV hasn't got too strong a signal (could have been the source of your sound problems?). If you cannot find it on scan, you can try a manual scan - its on RF Channel 50 for the BBC.

One of the reception gurus might be able to give more help.

MikeB: Hi, I expect to pick up channels from Huntshaw but myself and neighbours only find stations on channel 28 etc, which I believe is a Cornwall transmitter!

I have a Panasonic which will not allow you to select a band of channels for the auto search, it finds stations in the low range only, nothing in the 50's from Huntshaw.

If I try a manual search on all the channels listed for Huntshaw it shows no signal on any of them and finds no stations at all.

V confused.

Donna: Is this using a communal aerial, or is it your and your neighbours' own individual aerials? It is quite possible if you are on reasonably high ground that you are receiving signals from Caradon Hill. This transmitter reaches many parts of North Devon, as such it was the only source of BBC2 in the days before Huntshaw Cross came on air! Do a manual tune on C21 for SDN from Caradon Hill.

Hi, i leave in the uk and have a standard definition sky box with working sky italia card. All good here.
I would like to upgrade the box to one with recording functionality... ie. dual feed, pause/rewind live tv.
I believe this requires a "MySky" box.

Do you know if these "MySky" boxes will work in the uk?

Thanks
Paul

There are no reported problems with the Sandy transmitter but I have not been able to receive anything on channels 27 and 24 since 17.00 today. Anyone have any clues?
