Details of the new Freeview HD transmitters to come on air next
published on UK Free TV

I am working on integrating this information into UK Free TV. Note there are a number of sites with restricted radiation patterns. This information may take a couple of days to generate coverage maps for.

I have used the "Nominal ERPs" (the power levels most likely to be employed in practice by the licensee).

Taken from Ofcom - Award of the 600 MHz spectrum band - it's bad news for The Wrekin and Sudbury, but good news for:

Initially,i was dissapointed that The Wrekin is not included in the above, wondering about the technical reasons why it cannot be SFN with Sutton Coldfield?
With a large overlap in Coverage from S Coldfield (in my working area),positively,i can
see more potential aerial work.i e
re-alignment of W/B Aerial arrays from Wrekin
to S Coldfied.Bring back the skill factor of dealing with lower signal levels, akin to the days when low powered DTT sat with high powered analogue tv signals.
Persuade the many who have not replaced TV
aerials before and after switch-over,to do so.
I see that all power levels for com 7 and 8
are much lower than first muted, but see this as a positive challenge to giving customers a greater choice of HD channels.

Brintist, are you sure they are using only nominal as opposed to maximum co-ordinated power levels for each featured trnsmitter?

Aerialman: that is what it says in the Ofcom licence in the document.

... DVB-T2 does operate well with a few dB knocked off compared to old fashioned DVB-T

I can see the sense in using nominal power levels for the featured list above. With a set of two frequencies for each transmitter taken from a group of only six frequencies.
For example,at high pressure,i can see co-channel issues between Sutton Coldfield and Belmont in my working area.

Aerialman: I suspect that is the reason for staying so far off the maximum levels.

They are using three frequencies per national multiplex.

This will bring good business if people want the new channels they will need a new aerial if there's arnt wideband and they are on winter hill. There is a rigger up here who is still fitting c d aerials what a lot of complaints he is going to get.
