Antony Portno: No, it rather suggests that you are able to receive BBC channels from more than one transmitter, possibly Waltham and Sutton Coldfield (and/or Belmont). It is not possible for individual channels within a particular multiplex to have differing signal strengths when they are from the same transmitter. Your receiver , having identified more than one variant of BBC1 must have put the strongest version in position "1" of the channel list, but initially ignored the stronger versions of the other BBC channels having stored identical, but weaker versions in the channel list. Either the weaker signal has now increased in strength to bring it over the threshold for reliable reception, or the tuner has now replaced the set of channels originally stored with the channels that accompany the prefered version of BBC1.

Antony Portno, KMJ,Derby- Antony did the device ask you to select region after re-tuning? if so check BBC2 and BBC1 have the same frequency?
KMJ,Derby i have noticed some freeview boxes after asking for a region then only alter BBC1 and ITV but store the others on the first come first stored basis, only the odd box tho?

MICK SYKES: On the assumption that you have all of these devices fed via an 8 way powered splitter then try the Grundig when connected into one of the other outputs, as the problem could simply be caused by the signal level not being quite high enough above that required by the Grundig to resolve a picture on the BBC mux.

What model is the Grundig in question?

12:30 AM

MICK SYKES: Meant also to say, that should as I expect you are using a powered splitter then for test purposes temporarily remove 3 or 4 of the other devices aerial connections as this might lift (slightly anyway) the signal level being received by the Grundig, which by the way should really be given a "first time installation" scan before each retuning attempt, box allowing!

Of course should the box have a "manual tuning" facility then go into this menu and enter mux Ch49 (Walthams BBC) into the box, but though hesitate before pressing search or scan as the signal level of the channel entered is usually displayed after having entered the mux channel number, if it is then make a note of the levels seen followed by pressing search / scan.

Martin: Sony tuners are generally less sensitive than Panasonics (I've got a Sony PVR as well), so I'm surprised the PVR is jumpy - mine retuned to Waltham with no problems at all.

There seems to be a number of people in the LE area with problems, so obviously check there is nothing wrong with the signal (you can check the terrain, etc with a postcode), and then check signal strength on both TV and PVR seperately (if you loop the TV through the PVR, just put the leads directly into each machine to check). Also check that the signal is not too high.

Are you getting signals from another transmitter? The tuners might be picking up another transmitter, so check the channels the tuners are using, and then possibly manually retune.

If none of this works, then perhaps one of the gurus here might be able to help!

MikeB: I'm now finding BBC1/2 on Channel 55 - not even listed for Waltham, so that must be coming from elsewhere.

Since last week, the 2 Panasonic TVs have retuned and kept everything ok, but even after I have manually retuned the PVR to Channel 49, it later loses the MUX.

Now, there are no watchable channels.

There must be others having problems
