BBC Alba - it's ridiculous that a minority channel is allowed to remove BBC Radio channels from Freeview in the evening. This needs to be sorted out

Hi all!

I live in Northern Ireland and have a TV set that has three tuners - DVB-T2, DVB-S2 and an analogue tuner (no longer in use).

The TV set is a Toshiba UL 863. I also have a satellite dish up facing 28.2E and receive signals from Astra 28.2E, Astra 23.5E, Astra 19.2E and a few channels from Hispasat 30.0W. Before getting this TV set I used a Silvercrest SL65 set-top box and was able to receive BBC Alba. I am aware that satellites have been moved and some channels relocated or dropped from the channels available via satellite.

Can anyone help me with how to manually tune to BBC Alba? My daughter is an Irish language speaker and as you will know that are similarities in Scottish Gaelic and the Irish language.

According to the BBC site Alba is on Freesat but as the tuner in the TV set is a Freesat non-standard tuner I am having problems finding how to find BBC Alba from a satellite.

Regards

P. Kieran Ward

P. Kieran Ward: Just for information purposes, I checked the info given on the BBC site and it corresponds to a satellite signal test made whilst BBC Alba was being received on two of my own Freesat devices, and if you select DTV manual tuning - Satellite (DVB-S) on 28.2 and enter the details as seen on the site and with "free to air" being the search option I cant see any reason for Alba not being amongst the list of programme channels that will (or should) appear. Details / 10.80275 (might come up as 10.803) DVB-S Symbol: 22.000 FEC: 5/6 Your TV does not allow Transport stream and SID to be entered and so not mentioned.

P. Kieran Ward: I can't advise you much more as I've never used a satellite receiver before!
