To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

BooHoo just retuned after repeated messages on the screen and I've lost itv3, 5 usa (one of my favourites). I hate digital tv! Don't know which transmitter covers the north Isle of Man, either Calderbeck or Winter Hill.

I receive channel no's 39,43,45,46 and 54,(blue bell hill).
My post code is ss13 3lu.
All of the channels show a very good signal strenth.However i had been getting picture break-up on ch 54,this was happening quite often,so i decided to try ch 28(crystal palace)and hey presto,end of problem.
As you can imagine,i am very pleased with the result,but i do wonder why this should be.
Has anyone got any idea?

Hi all. I live in Northern Ireland and get my Freeview signal from the Divis transmitter. Since switchover on 24 October, I have lost the EPG for the channels on the "A" multiplex (ITV3,ITV2+1,5*,5USA etc)on my Sony DVD recorder (model RDR-HXD870). The channels themselves are tuned in and both the channels and EPG are available on my TV. I keep missing programmes as I can't record them without the EPG. Can anyone help please?

I have no programmes at all but do have EPG
I tried a manual re-tune for CH45 but found Signal Strength zero and Quality zero

I am unable to receive any HD channels - single aerial, chimney mounted (approx bearing 280 degrees), feeding 8 way amp. receivers in two rooms do not pick up HD channels ( LUXOR HD receiver (LUX-DVBT2-690) and Toshiba HD TV (37RV753)). Any advice gratefully received.

have performed all reset procedures but problem persists. Usually at night our setting from Chrystal palace changes to Sandy transmitter which we don't want. With this changeover all my input for future recordings disappears too. Aerial seems ok, signal strength and quality ok too. Very frustrating. Thanks for help.

proff: Are you in effect saying that your normal viewing is from Crystal Palace but that this can change at times to Sandy? because if you are then go into your TV or boxes set up menu and disable "auto channel update", that is if this choice is offered as on some devices its not.

Maybe you could indicate the model number of whatever you are using.

Our TV in our bedroom, loses ITV, Channel 4 etc, during the early mornings and evenings (it seems generally to be OK during the day). I've tried 2 digiboxes as I had initially thought it must have been the first box as it was years old, but the newer and better one is also having the same problem. Our aerial is only a couple of years old. We use the Waltham transmitter I think, NG9 - we need help, we need "Milkshake" telly on in the mornings!!!!
