To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

paul: What to do is go into the 9200's menu / preferences and you will see "UHF set up" mentioned with a channel number being displayed, just set it to 68 and its well out of the road.

That said though, if it was seen on the default Ch36 it should not have caused you any trouble "if" indeed you are tuned to Walthams BBC as its on Ch61.

Whilst you are in the tuning menu also go into "installation" and make sure that "antenna power" is switched off.

If by any chance this makes no difference then there has to be some other odd fault in existence, so should BBC vanish when the Humax is switched on take out the in / out link on the Humax and connect the cables together, in other words by-pass the Humax even although it will still be connected via the scart lead to the TV.

paul: Thanks for the update and pleased to hear you were successful, I hadn't actually realised that you had made a reply as I was viewing on a different PC and the screen hadn't updated, this being the reason for my further suggestions.

msc5: The reason that manually tuning doesn't work might be because it has already picked up the Waltham multiplexes and put them in the 800s. As far as it is concerned, they are tuned.

Start off the autotuning scan, with the aerial plugged in. When it gets to 25% unplug it. When it gets to 58% plug it in again and leave it plugged in.

The aim is to have the aerial unplugged when it's scanning the frequencies that you don't want (Sutton Coldfield channels) and to have it plugged in when you do (Waltham).

PS did spend about 4 hours on this. Swapping it to another tv, retuning endless times, replacing cables. Renewing wall plate connection which cable was to short and had to release extra from outside in order to pull enough through.hit it a few accasions with a hammer and jumped up and down on it a few times.!!!! wish id asked the question earlier.

Linda Barrell: The commercial (COM) multiplexes (groups of programme channels) are on low power until 18th April. If it is these you are having issues with, then I suggest that that is the reason.

The Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) multiplexes are on their full power.

PSBs are BBC, ITV1, ITV2, C4, E4, More4, C5, HD channels and a few others.

For a full list of Freeview services, see here:

DTG :: DTT Services by Multiplex

COM4, COM5 and COM6 are those that are on low power.

paul: Well these type of things are fraught with problems ready to catch out the unwary, although I do have an advantage insomuch that as well as being an long term engineer in dealing with RF equipments I actually have two of these Humax boxes myself.

Anyway pleased you are sorted out now

Regards / JB

All channels on my TV seem to have disappeared today. A message says "Weak or no signal". I reset the channels about ten times, turned everything on and off, unplugged all the cables and plugged them in again, and I can't get any signal. My TV has a build in Freeview and I live in a flat in Birmingham. Everything has always been working since I moved in about a year ago.
