Stephen: Satellite receivers send polarity switching commands to the LNB, this making it whereby if more than one satellite receiver is being used on a dish with only one LNB connection, then both (or all) devices have to be viewing programmes on the same polarity of signal, there is no way around this.

So if you are considering purchasing a Freesat recorder (PVR) then the situation is worse, as even although the recorder will no doubt have a twin tuner, exactly the same conditions apply to it as does to individual Satellite receivers, as any recordings you make will have to be made on programmes using the same polarity of signal.

Much as you do not wish to, but you will never have a satisfactory system unless you run at least one other co-ax and fit an LNB on the dish with more than one outlet.

Stephen there is something called a stacker and de stacker this puts two signals into one coax cable. This is what you might want the only problem is that it is very costly hope this helps c and a aerials

Having read a few posts, can I say thanks for clarifying some of the mystery. I have a Humax Freesat decoder with twin HDD and now a Panasonic Blu-ray recorder with twin HDD and a Panasonic TV with Freeview & Freesat. The Freview reception from Sandy Heath breaks up a lot so I am now using all four drops from the dish to feed the recorders...is there any way of getting another(!) feed to the TV as well or do I need a new dish.

Jonathan Davies - If you don't want to set up another dish then simply switch the quad LNB for an Octo LNB giving you a maximum of eight "out" ports. Using one for the TV would still give you 3 spare unused. If you had been starting from scratch I would have advised using a small domestic multi-switch (much more flexible set up), but that would be an expensive conversion now and the first option would be considerable less of an outlay.

For Christmas I have bought a Panasonic Blueray recorder/player with 500GB HDD and twin freesat tuners. It is connected to a Panasonic TV which has Freesat and Freeview built in. There is only one socket available on the Bluray device for TV aerial (satellite) in and no loop through to take the same signal to the TV. The TV is connected to it with HDMI and Scart. However when the satellite input is connected to the new Blue Ray player the TV displays "No signal". I have tried using a splitter to no effect. I know this is an old problem, but is it necessary that I get someone to run a second feed from my satellite dish to feed the television seperately. Replies if poss to bryanking999@btinternet.com. Thanks for anyone who helps. Bryan (tearing hair out since Christmas Day).

Andrew - it seems you can't use a splitter. You would seem best served by adding another drop cable from the LNB on your dish. If you have only one output on the LNB, upgrade to a quad LNB...you'll find soon enough you'll want the extra feeds. The cables are relatively easy to make up and fit. Putting a hole in the wall is the hardest bit.
