I too had trouble receiving ArqB after the 16-11-2011 change from UHF 50 to UHF 63. I was getting 50% signal but only 10% quality.

Annoyingly, I had Freecycled my amplifier after I found I could receive all 5 SD muxes perfectly following the 20-7-2011 changes - so I either had to buy a new one or wait for the 27-6-2012 power up of all 3 COM muxes to 100kW.

A £4.50 ebay purchase of a new Philex amplifier improved my UHF 63 reception so I'm now getting 90% signal and 70% Quality - no pixelation or sound pops at all.

Before work at Sudbury on 16th November I had signals fro the group of programmes including yesterday/viva/film4/4music/itv4 etc
Today they are gone - I have followed your instructions for single frequency interference but with no effect.
Will I get them back ? Why have they gone?
Will FREEview mean even further expense as already need to spend a great deal to record freeview programmes on modern Tv's
Info will be appreciated

Heinz : I posted elsewhere (on the Sudbury Re-tune thread) about also getting the channels back when I re-instated my old signal amp. This despite perceived wisdom on here (and other Digital TV sites/forums) being that they don't help with digital channels! A TV engineer on that thread confirmed that, in his experience, signal amps DO help marginal digital channels.

Dale: I think that any statement that amplifiers "don't help" are made in respect of the way that they are often (mis)used.

That is not to say that there aren't proper uses where they are of benefit.

Channel 54 as well as 63 up the pictures, so to speak. Must be the fog currently afflicting the Ipswich area. This whole digital enterprise is a complete fiasco. bearing in mind the cost of new cabling, receiving equipment and wideband aerial equipment.
Pressure needs to be brought on the people responsible for all this retuning with regard to the inadequate transmission and frequency levels of certain channels.

I wouldn't go out and buy a masthead amplifier no signal means no signal. I have one to compensate for the attenuation of the aerial lead before I get to my distribution amp. I've got zilch on channel 63 at the masthead so there is nothing to boost.

I tried to watch Sky Sports 1 on Freeview on my BT Vision box today. I've been getting it fine for the last 6 months. Annoyingly the channel was now too weak to find. Is this also now broadcast on Arqiva B? I'm hoping the signal will get boosted or intereference will be removed soon otherwise I'll have to get a refund from BT on my subscription.

Annoyingly I only live 2 miles west of the transmitter!

Alistair: Yes, Sky Sports is on ArqB.

Have you tried carrying out the procedure outlined here to "blank" your receiver and then tune it in?:

Hi. I've given the tecnique a go of re-scanning with no aerial and that hasn't seemed to have worked.

I'm hoping playing round with the Tacolneston tranmitter at the end of this week may help with less interference:

Alistair: I'm not familiar with the BT Vision box. I've looked online and this page suggests that it doesn't allow manual tuning:

Vision box Freeview tuning - BTCare Community Forums

If it's wrong, then I would try manually tuning. If not, then there's not a lot you can do.
