Sadly, I am unable to offer this personal service at the moment.

Until I can restore this service, please can you leave any questions you have on an appropriate page, where they will be answered as soon as possible, or below, if you can't figure out where to ask.

I look forward to your questions!

suzanne: If you do not have an aerial pointing at Winter Hill, I would think very carefully about spending any money having one installed. Although Jim F appears to know the area, reception from Winter Hill could be very unreliable. The official reception predictor at Digital UK for your postcode shows reception becoming more marginal as DSO progresses - presumably because of additional interference from other transmitters as they switch over. One other predictor shows strength somewhat less than Moel-y-parc and another predictor doesn't even feature Winter Hill for your postcode.

The best solution would be that suggested by KMJ.

mike: You should be able to get near perfect reception from Emley Moor at you location, aerial pointing SW.
You can potentially pick up good but weaker signals from Belmont & Bilsdale and your box may have tuned to some of these as they are on lower channels which boxes scan first on autotune.
The best thing is to do a full reset/new install following the procedure on My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice BUT instead of doing an Automatic new install do a MANUAL install using the following UHF channels for Emley Moor C44,C47,C48,C51,C52 and if it's an HD box C41.
There is a transmission change for one of the COM multiplexes on 8th Nov. so if you lose any channels then, you may have to repeat the manual install.
If the manual install doesn't cure the current problem, post back with more details and about your aerial installation, any booster, cabling etc.

Suszanne your aerial shouldnt be pointing at the wales transmitter you might get full service from storton wood transmitter or winter hill but if you are very close to tge mersey you could suffer problems when very big ships i had this problem in crosby. You could allways call out a local aerial man for advice. Try to get someone local on your side of the water so you wont be paying the toll charges.

susanne: sorry for mis-spelling your name earlier. Whilst Mazbar's suggestion about Storeton might seem like a good idea, it's not a high power transmitter (you are out of it's service area) and is in the same aerial group as the West Kirby transmitter which you are only just over 1/2mile from. You'd need an amplified aerial for Storton and it's most likely it or your set/box would get saturated/overloaded with the West Kirby signal which is virtually in the same line as Storeton, and then you wouldn't get anything reliably.
Talking to a local aerial man as Mazbar suggested might be a good idea, but they need to be familiar with the West Kirby and Storeton transmitters.

Are you using a set-top aerial to get West Kirby at the moment?
I still suspect your best (and probably cheapest) option may as suggested by KMJ with the aerial pointing at Moel-Y-Parc. You might not need the aerial for West Kirby as the signal may be strong enough to get away without.
You would need to do a MANUAL tune of your set/box - UHF channels C24 & C27 for the PSB muxes at West Kirby (& C21 if you have an HD tuner) and then C48, C51 & C52 for the COM muxes from Moel-Y-Parc.

Angela: Some equipment will not work correctly on MUXes broadcast on a Channel with a negative offset as is the D3+4 (ITV/4/5 etc) mux at Oxford, if it hasn't had a firmware update.
Please see Error page and http://www.digitaluk.co.u….pdf
If it's one of those two Digihome boxes you need the Firmware update v5.7. I don't know if an over-air download will be repeated in the near future.
If you know someone with a computer and is competent enough see Unofficial Vestel PVR Information (UK) - T810 Freeview Recorder and click on the red v5.7 where there are instructions on installing from a computer and the download.

Gerry: You'll need a couple of Scart leads. (maybe 3 and a Scart spliiter)
If your VCR or Freeview box has two scart sockets, it should be easy.
On the VCR if it has two scarts, only one may have an output connection, this is the one to connect to the TV. Connect the Freeview box to the other. Select that scart input socket on the VCR channel selector, and on the TV select the Scart input from the VCR. Select the channel you want on the Freeview box and press record when appropriate. To do timed recordings you'll need to set the timer (if it's got one) on the Freeview box or leave it on on the channel required, and set the timer on the VCR as well. See each ones instruction manuals to do this.
The other way if the Freeview box has two scarts - connect them as marked. Select the appropriate scart input on the VCR and similar on the TV, select the channel on the Freeview box. Record as required. When playing back on the VCR, there should be a button on the Freeview box remote you may have to press to switch to the VCR signal, it may also do it automatically.

If both only have one scart you'll need a Splitter Box. I believe that the Technika 3-way one as sold at Tesco Extra/Direct may do the job. Whichever, it needs to provide two outputs, one for the TV and one for the VCR from the one input. Check it will do what you need. You may also need the 3rd scart lead.
