To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Gareth Smith: Have a look at Switchover starts in the Oxford area | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for some suggestions.

It can happen that some equipment can't deal with both the low-power and high-power services, and you just have to wait a couple of weeks.

Rod: I would try manually tuning in these channels, but prior to doing this blanking out anything stored in the EPG memory by scanning without the aerial being connected, as the predictor indicates you as being able to have good Freeview from three stations, namely : The Wrekin - Bromsgrove - Lark Stoke, although with these being single frequency transmitters the channel numbers / frequencies are the same from all stations.

Channels concerned being: Mux Ch26(BBC1) - Mux Ch23(ITV1)

If this works, then just use the add channels facility to load the remaining in without affecting the two already stored.

We lost all BBC channels today, thought there was something wrong so re tuned the tv which has built in freeview. Now we have BBC but not ITV2+1, 5*, 5 USA, Quest. I have retuned 3 times now and cannot get them. I have only just found out that Bedmond transmitter changed over to digital today from this forum, I would have thought we should have been notified in some way.We are HP3 postcode, any suggestions?

Angela: Hard to be specific withotu a full postcode, but generally speaking first try My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice and then see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Nothing actually happened at Belmont this week (it was the Oxford transmitter that had changes).

Belmont has been fully digital since Wednesday 17th August 2011.

jamjam: Your TV should follow the wide screen setting sent by the Freeview box, which should be following the information sent by the broadcasters. Old content is still transmitted in the format it was made, although sometimes movies are transmitted in 4:3 even if they were widescreen in the cinema, because the broadcasters haven't rescanned the original print (or obtained a new file from the copyright owner).

If the box is sending widescreen but the TV isn't following, people's heads will look narrow. In this case, check that the SCART cable is pushed fully home at both ends. If that doesn't help, try just disconnecting it and reconnecting. Often, the pins in the plug can get pushed into the body of the plug rather than making contact. If this has happened, replace the SCART cable. If that doesn't help, try a different SCART input on the TV or output on the Freeview box, a contact may have broken.

If you really want the screen filled despite it causing 'fat head' problems when watching a 4:3 broadcast, check whether the TV has an option to force the mode.

If the Freeview box is really forgetting the setting after a while, see if there is a First Time Installation or Default Setting option to reset everything back to defaults. If the setting still won't stay set, you probably do need to replace the box.

I can't find much information on the LCD26TV006HD, but it appears that the digital input is DVI rather than HDMI. If you want HD pictures from a Freeview HD box, you will need some kind of HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable to connect it up.

I have lost all my Freeview HD channels. I live in IG8 7AX area.

I have a Panasonic TX-P42G20B bought in February 2011. It has built in Freeview HD and I was able to view these using my normal aerial. They existed on channel numbers starting at 50 + but now nothing exists from channel 49 -70.

Until June of this year there wasn't a problem but since then they have vanished!

I know from reading various message boards that the transmitting signal at Crystal Palace was changed.

I have done all aspects of retuning including the factory setting reset as well as the full clearance of memory and retuning again but to no avail.

I have never used Freesat as I need additional cabling to connect to my Sky dish but what cabling?

Is there a solution to receiving these again that doesn't involve spending even more vast sums with Sky to have access to something that was once free?

Your help anyone's help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Andrew
