For the last fortnight we have had our HD channels dropping out with either a low signal message or disrupted pixellation which makes the TV impossible to watch. It happens most afternoons recovers slight around 6pm to 7pm and then goes again. The programme guide also displays no current information. We have a Sonia Bravia TV with inbuilt freeview and none of the advice above seems to match. Our aerial in on the roof of our communal apartments in E14 6NQ

Hi, We watch Waltham DTV from DE216DP and have always been able to receive all muxes. Since Wed 17/8/11 when mux1 (uhf49) was swapped for muxBBCA (uhf61) we have had great difficulty with that group of channels. Is the mux at full power, or is it less than before wednesday?

Roger: The transmitter power was increased from 10kW to 50kW, however on the down side the mode changed to 8k, 64QAM and the transmission now uses a higher frequency which in your location is harder to receive due to the hill that obstructs the signal path from Waltham. The digital UK postcode checker predicts reception to be changeable after switchover on all muxes with only PSB1 and PSB2 showing good reception by 2013. After 5th October 2011 the Digital UK postcode checker shows good reception on the Derby relay (for East Midlands signals) together with a full service from Sutton Coldfield, all with good reception when using an aerial pointing to Sutton Coldfield.

During the last two weeks I have noticed that Freeview BBC channels have become weaker, with frequent picture freezing, and hissing and spitting on the sound. Previously BBC digital has been one of the better signals. This 'weaker' BBC has come about from a forced scan, and subsequent scans haven't improved it. I'm also getting West Midlands BBC local news instead of East Midlands. I'm tuned the the Waltham transmitter, have a 'Freeview' aerial with mast mounted booster. I'm in Long Eaton. My concern is that this weaker signal will persist after all analogue channels have been turned off.

KMJ: Thanks for your comments. UHF61 has always been fine here with good analogue ITV. We have never got a useable signal from Derby. Sutton Coldfield gives wrong local news etc. One odd feature is that on cold switch on, BBCA (uhf61) registers as "no signal" then over the following half hour the signal level increases to "excellent". Whereas ITV3 for example on muxA at only 8KW (uhf29) starts and continues with a "good" signal report.
I have a wideband roof aerial and masthead amp.

Dear Sirs, I note with total disgust no reply on email for my previous reports.
Your change over is now becoming an even bigger mess.
Several areas around Nottinghamshire there are now equal signals from Waltham and Belmont. Fitting attenuators is of no help.
Why should viewers have to pay to install expensive very directional aerials ?
It seems that your planning has failed and expect viewers to pay to rectify your "mess"

That's why the freeview signals are on different frequencies. Just remove the belmont channels from your freeview device when you scan, simples.
