Sky+hd with HD ready tv
I have been getting messages recently from my tv telling me that the HD mode is not available.
What I have found is that when trying to watch Hd tv through HDMI lead it is garbage or blank. When I turn off the power to the scart lead through setup I can receive a picture through the HDMI lead, the question is why has this suddenly happened after 18 months of use, is it a possible conflict between the two connections, it has been set up like this since purschase

I am having problems connecting up the RF2 socket on my Sky+ box to an aerial and then a TV Eye. One method, I'm told, is to select Services then 4 for Systen Setup, then 0 then 1. But when I get into System Setup. there is no 0 to select and if I press 0 nothing happens. Another method apparently is to select Services and then 0,0,1 - but again nothing happens. Please help?
Mike

Hi, I currently have a FTA box & Dish system. I want to exchange the box to a Sky HD box. Do I have to change the settings on the dish or is it simply a case of plug and play?

Frank Ryan: You only need to connect HDMI *or* SCART - you don't need to connect both. Both HDMI and SCART have 'select' signals that the box signals when it is on - the TV watches for a change in these signals and switches to that connection. With both connected it may not consistently choose one of them. I would recommend disconnecting the SCART cable since it only carries standard-definition pictures.

To display HD pictures on some channels or programmes via the HDMI cable, the box and TV must negotiate Content Protection (HDCP). This is basically the TV promising that it *is* a TV, and not a recorder that you could use to distribute copies of the content. If it fails, the box shuts off the HDMI output. I believe it has to periodically re-negotiate, and some TVs don't do it properly. Switching off the TV and/or the box and turning it back on often sorts the problem out. Alternatively, try a different cable.

There are reports that HDCP may not work consistently with long HDMI cables. Ensure that the cable is only as long as it needs to be.

Kevin: If you're currently getting BBC, ITV and Channel 4 free-to-air, the dish should already be pointing at the correct satellites. You then just need a Sky box.

If you want to keep your FTA box and use it in another room, you would need another run of cables from the dish - you cannot split satellite dish cables.

JiMi- You do not state if you received the digital channels previously. Input your postcode at the top of the page, to find out where you receive the signal from.

Hi i wonder if you could shed some light on my problem? Last August I bought a Hitachi HDR165, it is running on v1.6 software. I understand that the pvr upgades software via over -air- downloads, and that the most ecent is v3.4. I have automatic downloads enabled, but as yet the pvr has not updated. Any Ideas???
