For the past 24 hours I have been unable to receive most of the freeview channels, the main bbc channels have been bad for a whil ebut noe channel 4, E4 channel 5 amongst others. I haver checked my setup and connections and can see there are no issues there I have also tried other freeview boxes to ensure there aren;t any problems there. This problem seems to happen intermittently and proves to be very frustrating at times.

I live in the EN4 area so believe that Crystal palace is the transmitter.

Thanks,

Kevin

I live less than a mile from the CP transmitter and use an indoor aerial. I've experienced awful reception (i.e., they're unwatchable) on all channels on all TV's in the house for the past 2 days. Nothing has changed here, there's no new equipment that might be interfering. It's really not a good advert for digital if it can't deliver to recievers a mile away if the weather's not right.

Pete: Sorry, but the low power digital service (before switchover) will never work reliably with an indoor aerial.

If you want to have a reliable service, you need to use a rooftop aerial.

Pete: I have 5 muxes right now from CP on a roof aerial, 39 miles away. Mux A isn't working, but this is the one that works least well, typically. The aerial is an 18-element contract type, and the cabling runs down to the downstairs flat, through a booster, and up to mine.

I admit that Mux 1 has been pretty erratic over the last couple of months.

Briantist: I mentioned atmospheric conditions because the other factors mentioned on the link you suggested to me do not apply, equipment etc. In fact as Derek mentions he's checked his equipment and still had signal problems. Also Kevin. I had reception problems today at 11am, and I can guarantee that again nothing was turned on/off etc. I can't believe it's High pressure because it is overcast and it also rained. It seems that this low power broadcast is very unreliable even with rooftop aerial which I have.

mihaid: It is not your local weather conditions that matter, but the conditions near the remote transmitter causing the problem.

I did mention this some days ago when it was the case.

I've recently bough a Humax HD recorder. It has delivered great HD pictures all week but from 12/2 they became unobtainable - the error says low strength, all the other channels are fine. I retuned the box this morning and it can no longer find the 4 HD channels. Any ideas - I live in the Sidcup area.

SMW - Click on the Menu Button on the remote on the left hand pane scroll down to the system icon then on the right hand pane click on Diagnostics. Yuo should now see the signal strength and picture quality bars on the bottom of the page. These should (If the dish is peaked correctly and whether or not your cable connections to the receiver are connected correctly) show 90% signal srength and 100% Picture Quality. Check your cables first and that they haven't come slack at the receiver end. The most likel cause is moving or dusting around the receiver. If not then could be your dish has moved slighly. Try a system restore if you then can't get a complete re-instal it's most likely the dish has moved.
