To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

dave: sadly 'HD Ready' does not mean Freeview HD capable. It only means that the TV can handle external HD sources and has at least a 720-line display (1080-line for 'Full HD Ready').

Freeview HD uses a transmission method that wasn't even thought of when most HD Ready sets were designed and manufactured.

You will need to get an external Freeview HD set-top box or PVR, or buy a new TV.

Hello - I live in the Saffron Walden ( CB11 ) area, and receive transmissions from Sandy Heath. Every so often, as today, I lose one MUX completely on Freeview (..no BBC1, 2 or 3 ). Looking at 'diagnostics' on my LG set, it shows channels 40, 45, 46 and 67 at around 50% signal strength.
Can you offer a solution please ?
Many thanks.

30 minutes agoI live in Ninfield by the village green. We have just installed a new Samsung 40" tv. We get perefect digital pictures on all channels except BBC1 & BBC2. Our aerial man has checked signal,aerial, antiference box cabling & signal strength. All found ok. Samsung sent their engineer who confirmed the set was ok. We have 4 other sets in the house (all samsung)& the rest of them are fine. Their signal strengths (shown on the set) vary from 10 to 82. If you switch the tvs arount to different sockets they retain their own characteristics so its not the sockets. If I retune the 40" digital only in the morning it works with signal strength of 94. By the afternoon the signal drops out to 0 strength & bit error level of 2000! Midway between the picture breaks down and the signal strength/ bit error alternate between 96/2000. Do you have any ideas or should I just take the set back & get a refund?

Freeview was mostly off last night (13th) - I could only get a handfull of channels - normally all are flawless with possible exception of Dave which seems to be worse in one room.
From reading your site it look likes one one multiplex'd channel was available...
