No, you cannot use a satellite box to receive terrestrial programmes.

I don't want to use a satellite box I have a freeview box. I want to know if an existing dish for sky can be use with the freeview box.Can I use a cable splitter and run one end to the sky box the the other to a freeview box and get the freeview channels.

You cannot use a Freeview receiver with a satellite dish, only an aerial.

You also cannot split a satellite signal from a dish, if you want to run more than one box you must use a dual- or quad-LNB on the satellite dish and have a cable to each satellite receiver.

I can't afford sky anymore or to buy a new ariel. What would I be able to see if I cancelled sky completely?

I read at the top of this page "you cannot split the signal to two satellite receivers from one dish". I have bought a splitter from Maplin which only sends power to LNB from one output. My question is, if you can't split the signal, what is a the purpose of a splitter?
Many thanks

i have just got sky plus hd and the engineer who installed it said that as i live in a flat with communal aerial that only has one line in i can only watch one and record that same one not record two and watch a third i have had an aerial man out who says i must get a dish put up as he cannot put another line in what other options do i have as it is a listed building so dont think they will allow a dish to be put up

sheila: Ask the provider of your "communal aerial" to run you a second line in. They should be able to do this, for a fee.

I've bought a tv with both freeview and freesat built in. I have both tv aerial coax and satellite cable coming into room. I want to tidy it up by putting both cables into a single wall box. I've bought a quadplexer with fm/dab, tv, sat1 and sat 2 ports on but can't work out how to fit the aerial cable and the satellite cable. any help?

Keith - I am assuming you have a SKY paackage in place and am wonderng why you would want to buy as SKY will upgrade you. This would mean which ever package you have would be increased by £10.00 per month. If your not on a SKY package and you want to buy without a subcripion package then you might want to consider a Freesat subsciption free HD Plus receiver?

P.S Keith - Whichever choice you go for it's a straight swop over of receiver. If it's SKY your going with however you will need to contact them if you intend making use of the recording play/pause facility of a SKY plus HD box.
