In time for the festive period, Freesat is pleased to offer customers a host of new Channel 4 channels from Wednesday 8th December. Leading the line-up is the anticipated and welcome return of Channel 4 HD (126), along with a host of music channels with Box Hits (501), Box Christmas (The Box) (502), Kiss (503), Magic (504) and Kerrang! (505) all joining the platform.

Angie Mee, Director of Content Partnerships at Freesat, commented, "It's a delight to relaunch these popular channels on Freesat and we’re sure it will please our customers. Channel 4 has always been a great partner with its bouquet of channels, including Film4, E4 and More4, and we look forward to these additional channels joining the line-up at a time of year when families and friends are together.”

Jonathan Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Digital UK, commented, "The return of Channel 4 HD and the launch of new music channels on Freesat is a shining example of what we are now able to provide viewers as a joint entity – more and better content.  This early festive gift means Freesat customers will be able to enjoy all the world class programming that Channel 4 produces, as they sit around the TV with their family and friends.”

Karla Berry, Distribution and Platform Partnerships Leader, Channel 4 said: “Maximising Channel 4’s reach and impact with viewers through strategic partnerships is key to Channel 4’s Future4 strategy. With Digital UK and Freesat now one organisation we are excited about the future innovations and offerings we will be able to bring to all UK audiences.”

Would be wonderful if you could get BBC Sounds on to Freesat too please.
My 2013 Samsung Freesat-enables smart tv is "judged "too old" to be given bbc Sounds through the Smart hub, which is ridiculous. A Freesat solution would be just ace!

Thanks

Jane: This isn't Freesat's website so it is unlikely that anyone from the BBC or Freesat will see your comment here. The BBC Sounds app is available on the newer Freesat 4K boxes, but as the older models haven't been on sale for a couple of years now I wouldn't hold out too much hope of any new apps being added.

It would be great if FreeSat provided more subtitles with their programmes.

It would be great if FreeSat provided subtitles for as many channels as Freeview

Iz Tolley: Subtitles are provided by the broadcasters, not by Freesat. If a channel is broadcasting subtitles on Freeview and Sky then they just need to be broadcast in a different format (DVB subtitles rather than Teletext subtitles used by Sky boxes) to be available on Freesat receivers.

Bob Loader:

In normal circumstances you should get very good reception from Sutton Coldfield, however there is most likely a combination of factors periodically upsetting reception at present. Current weather conditions (temperature inversion/tropospheric ducting) accompanying the high pressure system is causing interference to signals now and again, in addition to which the transmitter has just been listed for Planned Engineering which may affect signals. Not forgetting that (the temporary) COM7 is transmitted at just over a quarter of the power of the other multiplexes at Sutton.

First experience of Freesat. Masses of stations. Baffled by the station numbering. Difficulty in getting 3 digits into remote fast enough.

Well good luck with it, about 40 more channels than Freeview IIRC.
Freesat only appear to have a listing of their EPG on the TV Guide https://www.freesat.co.uk/tv-guide
There is a listing here https://ukfree.tv/channels/all but I'm not sure how up-to-date it is (I've not checked).

Thanks Chris.

I think Freesat will just about baffle my visitors. Fortunately I can switch back to Freeview easily on TV when they are here, so that they can use the conventional station numbers (.........they generally don't understand HD stations anyway and Freesat will be beyond them).

Pulled a Freesat station listing from here.............https://rxtvinfo.com/freesat-channel-list-uk
