To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Robert Armstrong: If you receive signals from the Buxton relay, no. However if you have a suitable aerial pointing at Winter Hill, Mux ArqB will increase power on 21st September 2011 and is predicted to give good reception at your location from that date, subject to there being no local obstructions such as trees or tall buildings in the signal path.

Andrew: There have been no changes at Crystal Palace. First see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

If you want to use a spare LNB output from your existing dish to a Freesat HD box, you just need a run of satellite-grade coax. It's not hard to do, but does assume you can make a suitable hole for the cable from outside to inside and can access the dish safely.

Regarding Angela's post (15.9.11) we have the same problem. We are in the Hemel area and are served by the BEDMOND transmitter (not BELMONT)
We have no digital reception on BBC channels and have tried retuning but to no avail. We can see channels using SKY but wonder if there is any further info to help us please.

Carole: There is not transmitter called "Belmond".

If you use the Hemel Hempstead transmitter it has a pre-switchover change - Multiplex 1 moved from C48 to C56 (as C48 now used at Sandy Heath) AND Multiplex A moves from C60 to C68, (as C60 now used at Oxford).

Hi,

just re-scanned both on the inbuilt TV tuner and the freeview box (TV is a panasonic viera, box is a panasonic DVB). On both scans, BBC channels, Dave and a few others appear but we have lost all ITV, Chanel 4, etc channels.

Have had the TV and box for years and never a problem before.

Postcode is CV7, aerial is roof-mounted.

Have done the full disconnect aerial-rescan to zero-switch off at wall for 30secs etc procedure several times with no joy.

Any Ideas?

Graham: If you are receiving from Sutton Coldfield (as The Wrekin also possible) then blank out the memory again and manually tune in ITV1 on Mux Ch44 (The Wrekin ITV1 Mux Ch23) after doing so using the "add channels" facility to load the remainder.

I wouldn't fuss about too much though, as next week on the 21st another complete re-tune will be required on switchover stage 2, this where reception improvements should really be noticed due to power increases.

I've been having reception problems for the last month or so now. Also made a post on here about a week or two ago. I received a message on my Humax 9200 PVR on 14 Sept - "If you find you are missing channels please re-tune your Freeview TV or Box. A full channell search should be performed due to network change. Scheduled recordings may disappearand FavouriteList will be reset. This message may show again in the future." I've done a factory default reset, re-tuned the Hummy. Got ALL channels, but all the Mux2 channels (ITV, Ch4, E4, Channel5 etc) had no or bad signal, dispite the EPG loading for them. Since then I've done a manual tuning (as jd38 suggested) on selected channels and got the Mux 2 channels back again - and working this time. Suppose it's the fact that the Hummy can't handle the 2k and 8k signals at the same time (as suggested by Briantist in a previous post)?
