No. You cannot receive signals from UK Freeview transmitters abroad. You box will be able to receive local "DVB-T" transmittions, if there are any.

You can use satellite equipment pointing at the Astra 2D satellite from some European countries however to get around 100 UK free-to-air channels.

It would appear from a quick search on Google, using 'satellite reception Nigeria' as the search criteria, that you may be in luck as there seem to be several services available. You would, of course, need a suitable dish of the required size for the location and aligned to the appropriate satellite (there may be more than one receivable but they might be in different orbital positions) and set the receiver tuning to find the available programmes. It may be worth looking at http://www.satcure.co.uk/….pdf unless you already have that information.

There is no way the Freeview terrestrial Digital TV signals can be received in Malta. I am not aware of any satellite services receiveable in Malta carrying UK TV programmes either, but you should make enquiries of local TV shops in the area you are considering. You may well be able to receive local TV broadcasts and some of those may be of interest. Otherwise it is down to using the internet, but even then there may be a problem because of copyright restrictions as most providers check whether the IP address in use is in the UK and if it is not they often block the service.

I live in France (60 kilometres north of Lyon) and have a basic sky digibox which I've had for years. Sky have recently increased their monthly rate again and I'm wondering if I could buy a Freeview box in the uk, install it here and what reception if any I would receive? If it would work could I the cancel my Sky subsciption altogether? Thanks

You will not get any UK Freeview signals in any location that far south in France - it's just far too far away from any of the Freeview terrestrial transmitters that are all based in the UK.

You may, however, be able to get some signals from FreeSat or Sky even without a subscription - but you may need a larger than average dish to get sufficient reception as some of the 'beams' from the satellites are aimed at the UK mainland and not central or southern France. Have a look at Eutelsat 28A Super on this website.

There is no way you could receive Freeview channels 'off air' as being in Bulgaria you are far too far away from the ground-based transmitters in the UK - the signals hardly get to France, Belgium or Holland so will not reach Bulgaria.

The Sky box 'may' be able to receive some signals providing you have a large enough dish installed aimed at the satellites at orbital position 28.2 and 28.5 degrees East above the Equator - but you should check whether any of the radiation patterns for the Astra series of satellites actually cover your particular location. Look at
Satellite Footprints - SES.com
or at https://ukfree.tv/extr…nts. The latter seems to suggest that you may be able to get some channels from the Eutelsat 28A Super beam rather than the Astra (used by Sky) satellites, there is a list of channels given. You will need a fairly large dish to get these signals as strengths are quite low.

You may be able to get some signals from other satellites in different orbital positions but may well need a different dish aimed at the alternative orbital location. The Sky box may not be able to receive those signals so some 'universal' satellite receiver may be needed instead.

I suggest asking a local satellite equipment supplier local to your home about what is possible and what is needed to view the programmes that may be receiveable.
