You can get the following Freeview channels on with an ex-contract digital satellite receiver (once it is connected). Items marked with a star require either a Freesat from Sky (fSfS) card, or a expired Sky subscription card to view.

sue: Your new TV should have exactly the same connector as before. If you have another type of connector you may have satellite or cable.

I live in postcode area KA24 5HE. I have an aerial in the loft and the signal on my digital box comes and goes but mostly goes ...have tried everything to rectify this so finally just resorted to watching analouge tv. afraid this will soon end and looking for cheapest way to go about this during the change over. Free sat, new aerial and conecting other t.v's in the household?? what is the average cost?

June Sillars: Move the aerial to the roof, that is all you need to do.

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. I have a subcription with sky with a sky dish and box, but not HD. I have just bought a new tv that had freeview hd in it. What connection if any do I need to recieve the freeview HD channels. Does it need an aerial cable or will it be connected through the sky box. Thanks

Lynn: Freeview HD is provided via a rooftop aerial pointing at a suitable transmitter.

Am I right in assuming that once you cancel sky and got the freesat option with them you lose completely the recording facility and the only way to record freesat would be on a freesat+ recorder box? Is there no work around for this? This is quite annoying as I own the Sky box, therefore the hard drive, i assume the argument is the software is sky's but i should be able to install some other software on the equipment i own? I guess that is a no, knowing sky, but all the same it is annoying.

I have just purchased a new LG 19" tv for the kitchen.
I cant get any signal from the aerial on the TV.
Previously had a Phillips free view box and old analogue tv which worked.
Free view box gives a good signal but Ido not want to use it permanently.
Can you advise a suitable aerial ? what type ABCD etc.how many elements? etc.
I am roughly lined up with Winterhill Transmitter, (have a tall tree in the way)
Existing aerial is outside level with the roof ridge.
Can I find out a compass bearing to line it up?
Post code PR2 9FB.
Gratefull for any help you can give.
Thanks

Chris: Why not just plug the old Freeview box back in and use it with the new TV?

Hi Brian
thanks, thats what I have done but I would like to just use the tv on its own and remove the digi box to clear the work top area in kitchen.
Read some of the stuff on the site and now have a bearing to winterhill, will adjust aerial about 5^ and see if its better.
Is a K aerial suitable for my area?
