As an update to the original plan (see Freeview channel numbers change on September 19th 2012) - the changes to Freeview this week will now be less extensive than planned, as two channels have appealed the changes.

The main changes are shown in this diagram below. You will need to do a "first time installation" to ensure the channel numbers are correct. See My Freeview box has no EPG ... or the channel line up is wrong if you don't know what to do. Another option is the list of retune instruction leaflets and manuals on the Freeview Retune - list of manuals page.

OK, on Waltham and done a test retune on the TV before retuning everything else, but no change in the channel numbers here. Anyone else on Waltham found the same? The new channels are up, but Dave is still on 19, etc...

Please can anyone confirm when the Freeview HD channel numbers will change. I was expecting it yesterday with the other planned changes but it did not happen. Has one of the broadcasters objected, or was this always planned for another time (17th October?)?

Malcolm Lee: DMOL have told me that it should happen before DSO completes on Wednesday 24th October 2012. The date is pending two channels disputing their change of number, Sky News plus one other.

The only channels I have "activated" on my TV and PVR are 1 to 15, 19, 24, 28, 80 and 82. These are all working now on TV and PVR.
Do I need to do anything?
Thanks.

Brianist I seem to recall Sky News wanted out of Freeview as that changed?
(Sky News is not on Freesat.)
Will ITV group channels, along with CH4 and CH5 groups be got together?
The whole numbering system on Freeview is a mess at the moment I had hoped they were going to do a good clean up.

Many thanks for your reply Brian. As DMOL are saying 'it should happen...' rather than 'it will happen...', I guess that they do not know when either! We will just have to wait and see.

Malcolm I think the old saying "Too many cooks....."
In TV today just so many organisation running the broadcasting systems, I used to think it was Ofcon that were in charge now we have DMOL etc. etc. etc.
Result a complete mess, I do hope other countries better than this one.

David Lindasy et al, have you seen the pop-up messages advising to retune now? They have appeared after the event. All of my Freeview TVs retuned OK apart from one. My AOC model has decided to put ITV1 on channel 800, followed by a handful of Channel 4 and 5 ones. Stupid thing! Perhaps it'll be OK after the next round of retunes.
