Local 6 plans an hour of local opt-out programming at 5pm and 9pm, with six hours a day of local programming, including arts and entertainment alongside news and weather.

Starting with London city station from Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. 17 local city and town stations, starting with London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Norwich, Cambridge, Bristol, Belfast, Southampton, Reading, Cardiff and Swansea.

Key people: Luke Johnson (former Channel 4 chairman, former Pizza Express owner), Paul Jackson (former BBC head of entertainment and comedy and ITV executive) , William Burdett-Coutts, Sandy Ross (former Scottish Television), Guy Hornsby (former TVS)



Local6 have "studied smaller stations, especially in America, and believed it was time for Britain to catch up and do things differently, for less money. These days are very different.
